  • UNDP Administrator to Visit Azerbaijan Sep 25, 2014

    United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Administrator Helen Clark will visit Azerbaijan in 1-4 October 2014. The objectives of the visit are to reiterate the organization’s high level of support for the sustainable development of Azerbaijan; emphasize the government’s achievements in many areas of economic and social development; and acknowledge the readiness of Azerbaijan to embark on the path of becoming a full-fledged member of the donor community.

  • Training on sustainable pasture monitoring and management held in Ismayilli region Sep 15, 2014

    In the framework of the EC Clima East Pilot Project on “Ecosystem-based approaches to climate change,” trainings on pasture monitoring and inventory for 3000 hectares of pilot summer pastures in the Ismayilli region were held in 14-28 August, 2014. These activities were implemented in cooperation with Global Environment Facility’s (GEF) Project on “Sustainable Land and Forest Management in the Greater Caucasus Landscape and GIZ’s (German Technical Cooperation) SMB ( Sustainable Management of Biodiversity in South Caucasus) Project.”

  • Workshop to strengthen flood forecasting and early warning systems Jul 17, 2014

    A two-day workshop on flood forecasting and early warning systems kicked off in Gabala yesterday. Held as part of the project “Integrating Climate Change Risks into Water & Flood Management by Vulnerable Mountainous Communities in the Greater Caucasus Region,” the workshop brings together local stakeholders including project staff, beneficiaries, national and international experts, and delegates from the vulnerable mountainous communities in question. They plan to share their expertise on flood forecasting and early warning systems in the field.

  • Joint research report on Migrants Spouses and Family members presented. Jun 27, 2014

    IOM together with UNDP presented a joint research report on Migrants’ spouses and family members, staying behind in Azerbaijan at UN House. The report is the results of the project “Building Knowledge and Improving Support for Migrants’ Spouses and Family Members Staying Behind in Azerbaijan”, which was carried out by the IOM under UNDP’s programme on “Support Gender Research in Azerbaijan”. IOM was able to undertake this very important research thanks to the financial support of UNDP in Azerbaijan.

    UNDP, in partnership with UNFPA, the Ministry of Youth and Sport and NAYORA (National Assembly of Youth Organization of Republic of Azerbaijan) launches the Second Round of Post-2015 National Consultations.

  • A seminar on Water and Flood Management was held May 21, 2014

    On 21 May 2014, at “Qafqaz Baku City” (Shamdan Conference Room) Hotel a seminar was held in the framework of a joint project on “Integrating Climate Change Risks into Water and Flood Management by Vulnerable Mountainous Communities in the Greater Caucausus Region”, between the United Nations development Programme (UNDP) and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

  • Azerbaijan will host 2014 Global Forum on Youth Policies Apr 1, 2014

    On 26 March, 2014 The United Nations Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth, Ahmad Alhendawi and the Minister of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Azad Rahimov, announced that the Global Forum on Youth Policies, an international gathering of over 700 Government-level Ministers, experts and youth organizations, is to be held in Baku from 28 to 30 October, 2014.

    The United Nations Development Group (UNDG) which unites 32 UN funds and programmes, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), announced its plan to launch Dialogues on Implementation of the Post-2015 development agenda in initially 50 countries.

    The Model UN Security Council Conference organized in Baku continues its work. After the two-day pre-conference training workshop the participants have started role playing to simulate the UN Security Council at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy today.
