Youth Camp on topic “Azerbaijan in 2020” was organizedDec 24, 2012
As you know, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in close partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan Republic, implement the joint project entitled “Youth Participation in Decision Making and Policy Implementation".
The overall project goal is to empower the young people of Azerbaijan to participate in decision-making more actively by contributing to policy planning and policy outcomes, and to develop their capacity as future leaders and public servants. The project will provide young people with knowledge and skills to identify and advocate for youth-specific outcomes in the state programs and strategies, attract more youth to the civil service and strengthen young people’s capacities to participate at the international fora.
Within the framework of the project, Youth Camp on topic “Azerbaijan in 2020” was organized together with the National Council of Youth Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan (NAYORA) in Novkhanı "AF Hotel & Aqua Park" recreation complex on 22-23 December 2012, in order to form the image of long-term thinking of young people about the future of the country. At the opening ceremony of the event the project manager Kamala Musayeva informed the participants about the project, and wished them good luck in the camp. The chairman of the NAYORA Shahin Seyidzadeh told about the youth policy, youth participation in civil society and management of state organizations in Azerbaijan, about the importance of “Azerbaijan 2020: vision of future” Development Concept. Head of the department of youth of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan Indira Hajiyeva also participated in this event.
After the opening of the event, "Azerbaijan - 2020: View to the Future”, Development Concept was discussed together with 50 young people who are selected as project participants. Araz Pashayev, training advisor of Public Investment Capacity Building Project held discussions with participants on topics such as “Global and Local Challenges", "Azerbaijan - 2020: strategic vision and key priorities", "Human capital development and effective social security system"," The young people in 2020"etc. On second day of the event, project manager of NAYORA Tural Abdullazadeh held simulation game for players who would represent various ministries. During the simulation game "Azerbaijan 2020: Look to the Future", participants proposed interesting ideas like concept of alternative credit creation by the government, promotion of citizen journalism, "qualified student" model etc.
